Description
This course explores the impacts of extreme summer temperatures driven by global warming and urban heat island effects. Beginning with an overview of climate change impacts, students will progress through key components of heat risk, including exposure, vulnerability, and adaptive capacity. The course guides students to understand who is most affected by sustained high temperatures, how built environments exacerbate heat stress, and methods for assessing population vulnerability.
